What is a FotoFacial?
Laser technology is a treatment breakthrough that can correct a variety of skin conditions, such as facial skin imperfections, the signs of aging (wrinkles), birthmarks, unsightly small veins and other blemishes. It offers a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, providing superior cosmetic results and outstanding satisfaction.
How is the FotoFacial Procedure Performed?
A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated, and you will be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth glass surface of the laser handpiece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of laser are applied . You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a rubber band. An anesthetic cream may be used, but is seldom required. Each treatment usually takes about twenty minutes. Treatment is usually administered in a series of procedures that provide excellent long-term results, minimal adverse effects and high satisfaction rates.
What Is A Treatment Like?
Treatment may vary from 15 to 45 minutes. First, the treated area is cleansed and a cool gel is applied. When the pulse of light is delivered, the sensation is similar to a snap of a rubber band. After treatment, the gel is removed, the skin cleansed and a sunscreen is applied. Pain is minimal; however, topical anesthesia can be used for maximum comfort. For sensitive skin, a cool compress is applied following treatment.
What Conditions can FotoFacial Treat?
- Imperfection from sun damage and photo aging.
- Broken veins and capillaries.
- Symptoms of Rosacea.
Enlarged pores, dull complexions and other facial imperfections or abnormalities can detract from your well being and appearance, no matter how healthy and young you feel. Today's laser technology improves both the superficial and deeper skin layers and rejuvenates the skin while at the same time delivering beneficial thermal energy to deep tissues. After a series of treatments, you can see a significant reduction of unwanted pigmentation and the appearance of smoother, revitalized skin. The same treatment can be used effectively on the neck, chest and hands.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
For optimal results, a series of 5 treatments are recommended. Some patients see significant improvement in 2 to 3 treatments; others require more. Follow-up treatments may be desired once a year to maintain results.
Why Are Multiple Treatments Necessary?
Depending on the number of conditions you are treating, and the severity of the individual problem, a series of five or six treatment sessions may be recommended. You can return to work the same day and resume all your regular activity. By dividing the full program into several treatments, the procedure provides gradual improvement with very low risk.. It preserves the "no downtime" feature that people appreciate so much.
How Does the FotoFacial Process Work?
Light energy is applied to the skin non-invasively. During the treatment, the energy is transformed to heat energy, and the target tissue responds to the heat. After the treatment, the target is fragmented and absorbed without damage to the surrounding tissue. The skin surface is left smooth and rejuvenated
Red blemishes from broken blood vessels and brown spots of pigment from sun damage respond to intense Pulsed Light. The light is changed to heat energy as it reaches to the level of the collagen beneath the skin surface.
Advantages of FotoFacial Treatments
Chemical peels, laser resurfacing and micro-dermabrasion (eg. Power Peels) are ineffective in reducing redness and flushing or dilated capillaries. Prior to FotoFacial Treatments, there was no effective treatment for flushling or facial and neck redness. FotoFacial has an advantage because:
With FotoFacial Treatments, there IS less discomfort and no downtime or disruptions to normal activities. The end result of FotoFacial Treatments is smoother, healthier and younger appearing skin.
How Soon Will I See Results?
After your first treatment, your skin will feel smoother and will have a more even tone. These improvements are gradual and will be more visible after each treatment. Five treatments are performed for optimal results. Some patients will benefit from additional treatments.
How Much Does It Cost?
Prices vary for each patient depending on the type of laser procedure, area of the body to be treated and the number of treatments needed.
FotoFacials for Aging Skin
Over the past six years, laser skin resurfacing has gained great popularity in the treatment of facial lines and wrinkles. A significant disadvantage with laser skin resurfacing is the lengthy "downtime" and persistent redness following the procedure. Now, dermatologists have developed a nonsurgical alternative to laser skin resurfacing using intense pulses of light to treat fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, dilated capillaries and redness of the face, neck, chest, arms and legs. A series of (3 to 5) 15 minute treatments requires no anesthesia and results in dramatically smoother, softer skin that has few wrinkles, smaller pores and less redness. Patients are able to return to work immediately following treatments.
Why Is It For Me
Another reason why FotoFacial is so successful is that it is a true "multi-tasker." It improves redness and broken blood vessels, erases age spots and areas of skin discoloration, as well as reaching down to the level of collagen to enhance your skin tone and texture. More effective than creams and medications, it also offers relief from the symptoms of rosacea, including flushing.
Furthermore, results are excellent on other sensitive body areas like the back of your hands, chest and neck. |
